My mother, the Twilighter, and I, the LOL-believer

(It is better not to read if you don't know ANYTHING about Twilight because you have been living under rock for the past century. It might also better not to read if you are a hardcore Twilight fan.)

The truth can be so surreal sometimes…

Yes, my mother is a Twilight addict. No, she isn’t your typical OMG-I-Wish-My-Hubby-Is-More-Like-Edwardpoo housewife. She is a no-nonsense businesswoman, and she is also one of the last persons I may expect to like Twilight.

How did Twilight get into my (and my mother’s) life? A couple of years ago, when I was still in Thailand, I bought the book. I had never heard of the title before and I only knew that it is a bestseller about vampires. I like vampires. Well, what is not to like about a forbidden love with a hot certain someone who can kill you any minute? RAAAAAAAGUITYPLEASURE!!!

So, I bought it, but I didn’t read it. I forgot why. Must not be very important. Then, I went to US, and I left the book at home. I saw it again in Barne & Nobles, I read through half the book in the store. I would say that an overly lengthy boring love story between a bitchy self-center doormat and brooding sparkling veggie vampire (who has the personality of an Alpha cardboard) didn’t really knock me off my socks.

A couple of months later, my mother called telling me that she absolutely LUVVVV Twilight (and Sparklevamps). Apparently, she saw the book, and decided not to let the book go to waste. A week later, she called me again just to tell that she had finished EVERY book even though she was always usually so busy that she never went through books that fast. She must really dig Twilight.

Oh my holy meowing Buddha.

WHAT THE HELL HAS EDWARDPOO AND BELLASUE DONE TO MY MOTHER!!!

I decided to read the entire series instantly to find out (Thanks to my Twilighter friend for the books) to find out if I had miss out anything when I first read through the book. Well… I did really miss out something. There are two plays that you can read the Twilight series. If you dig it, just read the series like any book you would read. If you don’t dig it, read it like a drinking game and just LOL at all the crack!

Sorry for any Twilighter who (or mom, if you are reading my blog) happen to come across this post, but you have to admit that it is hard not to crack up when your female protagonist swoons over everything that her true love does, including breathing. It is also difficult to take the characters seriously when they sparkle in the sun. Heh. Sparkly~

Twilight isn’t an easy series to give out a grade because of the campy, LOL factors of it. I can see why people would like it even if I were not attracted to the same factors.

No, Twilight isn’t the worst book ever, as some haters may say. I don’t think that it is a good book, but it is hardly the worst, and I did manage to entertain myself in a twist way. I didn’t think that I waste my lifetime, and I actually like some parts of the book in a non-sarcastic way. Some characters were cool, like Alice (the pixie-ish mind reader who always makes a smart snaky comment when you need one) and Aro (fabulously probably-gay vampire mastermind), but they weren’t the main characters.

It still creeps me out that my mother like Twilight that much, but I can’t help if sparkly vampire is her thing. If Edward happens to be a hot mean blond German alpha that has secret masochist decency, I think I would eat the book up too. Whatever is your nookie, I guess?

Even if it is a mutant stomach-munching overgrown half vampire baby…

I love the Twilight series, but watched the movie first and was seriously annoyed by the first book & Bella. I swear she wasn't that clumsy or in awe of Edward in the movie.. haha!

This post is fabulous!
Will definitely be reading more.
You have a way with words (and cartoons!)
