The reading monster

Follow my blog with bloglovin
This blog is about books, or basically, books that I read.

When I was a kid, my parents did what most parents would do… They gave me books and encouraged me to read them. As I read more, they encourage me to read even more. They had no idea that they would create a monster.

Books become the first thing that I had to buy with my pocket money. (My Mother still buys me cloths until this very day because I don’t buy nearly enough cloth yet. I wish I could just wear books.)

It becomes a ritual for me to buy new books every week. It used to be comics, but now that is no longer enough. I still read tons of comics, but I need a healthy dose of pure text from novels every week as a fix too.

Even if I sell half of my books now and then, somehow, the number still rapidly increases. I don’t dare to count the number of books that I may have at home. I also don’t dare to count the number of books that I have in my US apartment. It seems like I am trying to build a library wherever I live.

Now that I think about it. When I still use to live at my house in Thailand, I used to sleep in my brother room (as he was studying abroad for most of the year) since my own bed was covered with books that I couldn’t fit in my shelves. The situation in my apartment isn’t quite that bad yet, but sometime I need to do the ballet dance when I need to get around the room just so I don’t have to step on my books.

…the best (and worst) part is I read nearly everything. Discrimination might be better with reading. At least I can cut my reading list in half.

…and if I live without any new book to read for a period as short as a week, I become nauseous. It is as if I haven’t eaten in a year, and there are hungry hamsters feeding on what is left of my stomach and brain cells. I feel like a zombie who has been going on for too long without any brain.

I am hopelessly addicted to books.

Now, it shouldn’t be much of a question why I decide to use books as the central focus of my blog. I waste tons of money on books, so I might as well make something out of this hobby of mine.

Hope to see you around here. I am off to read something, like, right now.

…hmppphm… books…

Wow! That's a passion I agree! Well, I'm off to read the rest of it ^^
But before I go, I have a question... Isn't there any public library where you live? You could read more books with less money this way... And do like me, buy the one you prefer (they are still falling from every shelves, lol) but it costs a lot less :)

@Thia
That would be a great way of reading more without spending too much money, but I have a nasty habit of wanting to own the book that I want to read. So even if I sometimes borrow books (from either the library or my friend) I still end up buying most of the books that I read anyway. My mom used to joke with me that I should just turn the house into a rental book store or something ;)

I think you can also add movies if you love to share with others :)

Haha; that is exactly like me if I don't read a new book every week. It's like... well, I just need it, I do.
